Mycopsychosys
Mycopsychosys is a story-driven horror visual novel by Delta Cat Studio set during a strange biological catastrophe known as the “sporestorm.” The event spreads rapidly across Spain, releasing fungal spores that contaminate the air and force residents into strict isolation. The player takes on the role of a survivor ordered to remain indoors by the Plague Control Department (PCD). As the storm worsens, people begin knocking on your door — some seeking help, others hiding their true intentions. The choices you make will determine who survives and what truth emerges at the end.
Gameplay and Decision Flow
The gameplay is structured entirely around conversation, decision-making, and environmental observation. Each choice influences character relationships, story direction, and access to the five primary endings (six in the Remastered edition). Rather than offering traditional movement or combat, Mycopsychosys challenges the player to interpret social cues and information from government broadcasts. The player must decide when to trust visitors, when to follow official orders, and when to take independent action. The results of these decisions reveal how small moments of judgment can define entire outcomes.
Core interactive elements include:
- Choosing responses that shape dialogue and trust levels
- Reacting to warnings and updates from the PCD
- Evaluating the motives of individuals who seek entry
- Discovering hidden lore in manuals, notes, and transmissions
- Unlocking new endings by replaying with different choices
Setting and Presentation
The events of Mycopsychosys take place inside a single home that becomes both a safe zone and a psychological trap. The sporestorm outside serves as a constant reminder of the danger beyond, while the confined space inside grows more oppressive as visitors arrive. The design emphasizes a balance between routine and paranoia — a quiet domestic space filled with tension. The Remastered version improves the presentation through new visuals, reworked sound design, and refined pacing, allowing the atmosphere to shift naturally between calm and unease as the situation unfolds.
Player Perspective and Strategy
The game encourages slow, thoughtful play. Each visitor represents a moral choice — helping someone could mean risking contamination, while refusal might lead to isolation or guilt. Players who listen closely to dialogue and pay attention to environmental details will uncover small patterns hinting at the broader truth behind the sporestorm. There is no singular correct path; instead, the story rewards curiosity and repeated playthroughs. The more you experiment, the clearer the overall picture becomes, but full understanding always remains slightly out of reach.
