Skinface is a stealth horror game built around infiltration and identity deception. The player receives a mission to eliminate a specific individual living inside a multi-floor apartment building. Unlike typical assassination scenarios, direct confrontation is not possible. The target only opens the door to people they recognize. To complete the objective, the player must imitate another resident by creating a convincing disguise using parts of different faces collected throughout the building.

Observing The Residents

The mission begins with the player entering the residential building without a disguise. Several tenants move around the hallways and apartments, each following a routine. Some walk through the corridors, others remain inside their rooms, and occasionally people gather in shared areas of the building.

The player must first study these patterns before acting. Understanding where residents go and when they are alone is essential for progressing safely. Moving too quickly or entering the wrong room at the wrong time can attract attention and cause suspicion among the tenants.

Creating A False Identity

The central mechanic of Skinface involves constructing a believable face that allows the player to approach the target without raising suspicion. Instead of traditional equipment, the player collects different facial features that will eventually form a new identity.

Typical gameplay tasks include:

  •         moving quietly through hallways and apartments
  •         identifying residents who can be isolated
  •         collecting facial components from different characters
  •         combining features to create a disguise
  •         preparing to interact with the mission target

Because every part of the face must match correctly, building the disguise requires careful planning and observation.

Entering Restricted Apartments

After assembling the disguise, the player can begin approaching areas that were previously inaccessible. The target lives behind a locked door and will only open it if they believe the visitor is someone familiar. This moment becomes the most delicate part of the mission.

If the disguise appears incomplete or inaccurate, the target may refuse to open the door. In some situations, nearby residents may also become suspicious if they notice unusual behavior. This forces the player to confirm that the identity they created is convincing before attempting the final step.

Skinface focuses on tension created by stealth and psychological discomfort rather than action combat. The confined apartment environment, combined with the unusual disguise mechanic, encourages players to rely on observation and timing. By studying the residents, collecting the correct facial features, and constructing a believable identity, the player attempts to complete the mission without revealing their true appearance inside the building.
